Calling it Quits

One of the biggest problems that poker players incur is that they do not know when they should stop playing. In other words they stay at the table too long, and in turn this ends up getting them in trouble. If you want to avoid this you should pay attention to what you are doing, and also have some guidelines before you actually start playing. While there is nothing wrong with staying at the table because you are confident that you will win, there is a fine line between doing that and being stupid. If you take things too far you may end up losing more money than you can afford, or blowing all of the money that you had just won. Luckily, there are several ways that you can learn when to call it quits.

So as you can imagine, the first thing that you need to become familiar with is when you should walk away from the game. There are two times when you will want to consider doing this. First off, if you are losing game after game you may want to consider calling it quits for the day. This is the only way to stop your downslide, and you might as well save money for another day. If you keep playing when you are losing you may find out sooner rather than later that you have blown more money than you had ever thought possible. And obviously this is something that you want to avoid at all costs.

The other time that you may decide to call it quits is after you have won a bit of money. When you are winning there is nothing wrong with walking away so that you can keep a bit of money for yourself. You are doing yourself a favor by taking your money and running before you blow it all on another game. Sure, you may be able to turn your winnings into more but why take the risk? You can instead walk away with all your money in your pocket. And this is always exciting to say the least!

When it comes down to it you need to know when to quit playing. If you play for too long you may end up losing all your poker money, but if you quit too early you may not give yourself a fair shake. When you learn about when you should and should not quite playing you will become a much better poker player. And this is what you are trying to accomplish, right?
